I can always recall having an attraction towards flora and fauna. At a young age, I took a high interest in learning about the biology of animals and their environments, with aid from my brother, and studied these animal encyclopedias my parents had brought home one day. It became interesting to me to attempt to compare animals and humans biologically. This led into the beginning’s of myself as an artist.

Inspired by nature, I would draw imaginary animals, imaginary landscapes, whatever my mind interpreted, that was what I drew. Through an interest in fur, and how it serves the animal, I began to think about human skin, and human fur.

Fashion is something I have been passionate about from an early age. Clothing, or human fur, is more than just a garment, but a means in which to express who you are to all whom you encounter. Male birds of paradise are beautifully decorated, maintaining their plumage, making sure that the way they appear is suitable in order to continue their species. I would like to think that clothes works in the same way, but specific to each individual.

Through fashion, I was able to discover myself and who I wanted to be. The older I became, the more free I felt to dress the way I wanted, and the closer I got to know myself.

It wasn’t until I enrolled at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, that I really began to full explore who I was and wanted to become.

I have learned to express myself through other mediums aside from fashion, and through discovering myself musically, I essentially have come to create a mental soundtrack of inspiration.

Rainforest Pop extends from both parts of myself.

Rainforest symbolizes two things. The first being an homage to the Central and South American environment, for I want my music to always maintain the pride, energy, and mystery of my heritage.

Pop comes as an opposite to the Rainforest half of myself. Pop music is clean, glossy, smooth to the touch, meanwhile a rainforest could be scary, or loud, or dirty.

The Habitat Mixtape is my interpretation of the human environment, but by looking at myself.
